fiat arbarth engine ?

hello there i have recently aquired a fiat engine with the number fiat 110f 3403313 ..  and the man i got it from stated he didnt know whether it was 600 or 800 cc .. as he hasnt had time to check...

as this time thats all the info i can give you , if you tell me where to look for numbers etc...

 it dont think it has  seized as i have had had turned it ..

can anyone tell me how to tell if its a arbarth, and also how can i get it running .. i think you call it a bench test ??

as its not in a car .. oh hehe it is (in my boot)

What bearing are you talking about?
Main bearing, big end bearing etc etc
I don't think Abarth manufacture's special bearings any way?

if its an 800cc its a 650 with new 800 bores.  They never did an "abarth engine" as an 800cc did they Chris??

Looks like a 500F or 500L engine, but you will have to remove the cylinder head to check the capacity, measure the bore and stroke.

Did the engine come with any ancillaries attached?

i am not looking to put in in my vehicle , i am willing to let it go as i have no need for it ?

just need to know what it is, and if its worth anything . i dont wish to mess with it as i dont want to ruin it for anyone else??

i have photos of it, and the ex owners said he thought it was 600 or 800cc and he brought it tuned . he just hadnt had the chance to use it ?

I am sure it's a bog standard 500F or 500L 499cc engine.
If it was an abarth there would be a lot of extra mods alloy sump, alloy rocker cover, different carb etc.

Abarth units are very rare and if you or your seller has one you will know it!

thanks for all the posts so far on the engine , could it be a bog stanard shell with all the nice bits inside??

i have no room to keep this unit , so if anyone would like it and wants to offer me something for it before i ebay it, can you pm me please?


its untested as you know , i have tuned it by hand and get good compression ,  

the man who i aquired it from is a genuine straight up guy, and i have no reason to suspect that he would lie to me . his words were " ive found a arbarth engine , belived to be 600 or 800cc , you can have that too if you want it"

when i went to pick up  my stuff he further remarked " here is the engine  i brought it already tuned and its 600 or 800 cc , i havent had time to play or try it "

yes, i think Chris is right, it doesnt look like an "abarth" engine, looks in good condition. But i am thinking, the previous owner may of uprated the bores? what do you reckon Chris? so could have the same cc as the 595?
 we wouldnt know untill we checked the size of the bores.

The best way to check the capacity is to remove the cylinder head and measure the bore and stroke!

There is another method which will give you a rough reading of the engines capacity, that is to take a spark plug out (make sure the piston is at the bottom of it's stroke) and fill the cylinder with a thin oil, measuring the millilitres it takes to fill the cylinder.

sorry to say, it looks like a straight ''cut out'' to me,theres no way its going to be tuned beyond 652cc(800cc???) without the need for the block stiffining alloy sump etc,and why leave the strangling standard carb on?....... ::
