Rear swinging arm(s) wanted
« on: April 05, 2009, 10:56:50 AM »
Hello Comrades.

Do any of you Chaps/Chappesses have a passenger/nearside  rear swinging arm kicking around? I'd be happy to buy an offside one as well if available.
Mine is a 1987 FSM Aircooled, but is showing signs of corrosion. With the MOT due, I though I'd ask the forum first, before shelling out the £150 for new ones.

Respect.....Norman

I forgot to mention that I'm off to Devon with the Old Lady & Kids today.
I'll be gone for the week, but will respond to any replies as soon as I get back.

Cheers!....Norman

norm give them a good clean up and have a look then treat them and give them a nice lick of paint the bad old mot man will like the shiney paint and will be so blinded by it he won t notice anything else wrong with the car.

I admire your optomism. There's a definite crack on the underside of one of them....maybe a bit of flexible filler, covered with plenty of gunge might throw him off the scent?
However, I must also weigh up the chance of a wheelarch/wheel close liaison when giving it some.
If any spares materialise, then I'll have a bash. Our Mentor, Dave "Rusty's Uncle" reckons it could be a real bas*ard of a job.
