Air cooled fuel pump
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:30:41 AM »
Recently my fuel pump spectacularly shattered itself to bits..well there is a shiny steel plate on top of the diaphragh that shattered, it holds the diaphragm in place so the pump stopped working.

As usual, at an intersection to a busy road, as usual some twit parked so close to the back bumper I couldnt even get in to the engine.

So I lit a fag, walked up to his window and told him there was a possibility there was just a wire off the coil, however due to his gay tendancies and wanting to get up my arse, I was going to have to simply wait till he was done with my arse!
Continued to a tree and sat down under it. Took about 1/2 hr for the twit to disappear. Then somply pushed the car accross the intersection :P

Anyhow I got a spare pump years back, stuck it on all was well but thought I'd try an electric.
Seems better, easier to start when hot, doesn't seem to get fuel smells which it did at high revs.

It was a 'Facet solid state' pump off e bay for just under £30.

Any similar experiences with pumps? :-

I've been thinking about electric fuel pumps. But I'm worried about matching them to the engine.
So I'm very interested to see what info this thread delivers. :)

The best modification you can do [-/ Saves the starter motor cause you don't have to crank the petrol up to the carb, any pump under 5lb pressure will do. i went the full hog and fitted a pressure regulator set to 3lbs Mick (bis13) has one on his A/C

I don't know if I'm maybe thinking too simple, but would a fuel pump from a Cinq work?
