Doors and Bonnet - White Bis
« on: March 22, 2009, 11:15:26 PM »
Hello Everyone!

I am in the process of getting my first 126 bis, which is also my first car! There are a few problems with rust though.

Therefore I am looking for two doors and a bonnet for a white bis. I live in Jersey - Channel Islands, so I will be arranging pickup and delivery....

Thanks for your time!

if theres none on the island it will cost a fortune to ship some over , it might be easier to reskin the doors if it just the bottoms that are rusty

you are probably right! The main issues of rust are just above the handle, on the top rim and just under the wing mirror.

Then on the other door it is just on the inside of the door on the bottom rim..... Do you think these would be pretty straight forward to clean up?

clean it up with a knotted brush and see how badly the metal is perforated then either treat it with an anti rust agent and fill with a good metal filler , or cut out the rust and tack in some new metal you will have to be very carefull though as not to distort the door panel with too much heat so tiny little stitches and let them cool completely between welds.

or if in doubt get a bodyshop to do it .

Ok - thanks for the advice! If you were to have a door however, and I was able to sort out shipping, would you have one for a sale? Other than that, do you have any links to other sites that may have spares available?
