126/X/19 heart transplant?

Her is the Q.  I have an X/19 sitting outside rusting away.  The more I look at it the more I think that the 1.5 cc engine gearbox and running gear will shoehorn into the space that houses a normal 650 aircooled.  Has anyone tried it   Also got a great 4 pot Ansa exhaust with it, but have not had it running.

 It has crossed my mind before. Would be interesting to know if anyone has ever tried it...

I know I'm a noob to the 126 world but surely if a V8 can be fitted into a 126 then a 4CYL can be put in. Well providing your handy with a cutting torch and at welding?

It only depends how much of your car you want to cut out

If you're thinking of fitting it longitudinaly and bolting it to the standard gearbox you will need to modify the rear bonnet (?) - the engine is too long to fit in standard engine bay. On the plus side, you will probably be able to do wheeles

go for it ! when a corrado g60 or alfa romeo 1.7 can be fitted you surly make it

I was thinking a mk1 mr2 engine might be cool but it would take up lots of room and might be too wide.  The other thing i was wondering about was one of those little capuccino engines which are 600and something cc but product a lot of power for their size.  They are fwd though.

 What about a Tatra V8? Air cooled, rear wheel drive...has anyone done that? Well the only thing is the size of the engine...

Mr2 is a fair bit wider than a standard 126 but the bolt pattern is 4x100 so you could retain fiat wheels with wobble bolts.. an easier solution mich be a smart car rear clip its not much wider than a 126 (about 3 inches)but you would need to adapt sone fiat wheels to the hus as they are 3 spoke....

All of these things are beyond my skills anyway, but i think i can do the fire engine with the bits from trs.  I suppose its not hugely different though.  I can weld now so thats a start!
