Replacement Engines where shall I go?
« on: February 09, 2009, 08:33:34 PM »
Ok Challenge for you all!  This'll start you arguing. LoL  I've decided to treat my ferrari 126 to the ultimate and the biggest sign of commitment you can bestow upon one of these little lovelies.  I'm gonna go with a new/factory recon engine but am gonna rely on you lot to point me in the direction of the best deal.  All the best and your advice is welcome and appreciated.

The ones you mean are Ricambi. Have met them few times and bought spares from them as they are local to us. Very nice people. Don`t know how much they are selling the engines for, but I`m sure they will give you a quote. Also the price probably depend`s on, if you want all the fancy stuff("Abarth" sump, rocker cover, exhaust...)
There is also Ricambio which is a different company. They are selling they recon engines on eBay for £775,- with unleaded cylinder head, but this is just for the engine.
I think this is a lot of money to spend. Maybe you should try to price up all the parts needed for an engine rebuild and find a good old school mechanic who could do the work, or possibly do it yourself. I think this is a cheaper alternative, but not sure. It may cost the same at the end.
 Good luck...

its cheaper from germany or even italy even with the cost of haulage makes it cheaper than the uk prices to be honest , if your going to go for a recon engine you might as well go and have it done yourself locally if not throw your chips in and look at middle barton and get a tuned engine in exchange for your house lol.

Just a thought here, is it possible to get a BRAND NEW engine for the 126? im thinking if you can still get all the parts, why not the whole engine? i think a fiat dealer is the place to ask. I know we can still get all the parts for a vw bug, so why not a 126... (i know it would cost a small fortune but hey...  :P )

O.K. Links:
Dutch company but can deliver new engines:
http://www.fiat500vdlaan.nl/

German site for a little extra power:
http://www.ilmotore.de/

Another german site, just contact him and ask:
http://www.fiat500-fischer.de/

There are more but I have to ask them first if they can deliver.
