I AM GETTING A FRIEND TO SPOT WELD MY NEW PANELS FOR ME

BEING : TWO WINGS AND A FRONT AND BATTERY BAY , AND MAYBE SILLS


I WISH TO HELP HIM BY REMOVING THE OLD PANELS FIRST .. CAN ANYONE TELL ME OF A EASY WAY OF DOING THIS AND WHAT DO I NEED AND HOW DO I DO IT PLEASE?

KEEP IT SIMPLE PLEASE AS I HAVE LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THIS SUBJECT

ANYHELP WOULD BE GREAT ..

Hi Richard,
The standard panel removal process is simple enough, just requires a 6mm drill bit
the tricky part is finding the original spot welds, once you think you've located the centers drill the welds through
Some of the welds will have spread slightly and some you'll be of center so your going to need a steel chisel (an old wood chisel will suffice too) then as you pull the panel away any where its caught give it a few taps and it should give way.

Be warned though there are a lot of akward welds especially up on the top sections of the wings

a small angle grinder comes in handy for this job, don't forget the goggles!

just grind the metal thin where the spot welds are on the wings, they will then come off easy with a help of a thin chisel.

clean up the old welds after with the grinder or sander, so the new wings fit flush.
