Lights!

Instead of modifying the headlights, i'm planning on installing drivers fog/driving lights to the bumper.. wired up to the headlights. I've found loads of lights, and even have a couple from my dads old chevette.. does anyone know of a bracket that would clamp onto the bumper? i don't really want to go drilling holes

Back in the day you could find spotlamp brackets that clamped onto the bumper in all good motor factors. I think they were made by Ring may be worth doing some searching on the net!

Alternatively why not make some brackets that fit between the bumper brackets and the body, no drilling required because you'd be using the original bumper bolts. [-/

Might just end up doing the mod.. having problems opening the "Upgrade to H4 lights" bit in the owners guide section. Driving on the island i need better lights either way

what are you talking about !! you lot only drive at 20mph anyhow !! each time i drive on the island i have to fight to stay awake because its soo slow!! my sis lives near alverstone and driving around there is such fun in a 126 because you can speed in all the lanes and scare oncoming cars!! lol

Have you got Halogen (410 fitting) P45t Headlamp 60/55W fitted.

I think it's the original spec bulb (45/40 W?) not sure without checking, but it's so dull it's getting dangerous!
I don't mind doing the mod, i take it it won't take long? I'd probably go the whole way and take the lights out for cleaning.. but i have an MOT coming up 

Haha! mick, we find it's people from the mainland driving slow because they dont know the roads! that and people so old they shouldnt be driving, so yeah most of the island anyway

No need to do any mod Nathan if you replace the bulbs with these.

Or you could use these high power bulbs, but you would have to use a relay cause you might burn the switch out.

If you use the top option which are 60/55 watts its just a replacement for the original 410 bulbs

Went into morrisons petrol station earlier and had a look, the bulbs were correct however the fitment seemed too small and had three prongs around it, like this:

Hey guys I've been thinking about changing to LED's but have not seen them in use.  You know what it's like, add some spotlights and when you put yr lights on full beam consuming between 200 to 300 watts and the drag from the generator slows yr top speed and uses more fuel.  These led's use a fraction of the power what do you think/know?

I'm sure you will be able to get them, if not from halfords try a motor factor, they should be around a fiver each,

Markie,  last year i bought 2 LED sidelight bulbs, 4 LED Indicator bulbs and 2 led stop and tails + the loading resistors, installed them and when i tried them they were crap! you could hardly tell in daylight that they were on (dangerous) and these were supposed to be direct replacements with 36 LED's around the side and tops, in my mind a complete waste of 60 quid, so I ended up putting all the original bulbs back in.

There's nothing wrong with LED tail lights BMW, MERCS, RANGE ROVER, and others use them, but these are designed on printed circuit boards and are very efficient, not like the bulb replacements.

If you want to go down that road, Make sure you see them working before you buy them, then you can make your own mind up

leds are good on christmas trees....i prefer bulbs you can drop and break as you get them out from the packet the dimmer the better so your driving skills are tested on dark twisty roads ....use the force.

I must admit Im thinking of fitting some spot lights to alan, Ive been looking at the little 4" spotlights they put on the new mini's quite cheap on ebay..

hi stuey i have some a pair of ring round spots and a pair of ring rectangular spots both have a crack in one lense though if you want a pair i will send them to you for the cost of the postage, i have found no matter what you put on the 126 it will get broken as they sit so low . let me know and i will pack them up just send me your address . mick.
