OR, you can buy the materials for a few quid, learn how to sow, do it yourself, and save 800pounds, and use that money to order a brand new engine from Poland :P

your having a laugh!! i got quoted 50 spots for it to be done , little tip the covers come of easy take them to a curtain makers (mostly women) and they will make you covers properly as well for next to nothing , if you want a specific material then you pay for that on top but its around 50 quid for the labour!!

I was thinking i might do mine in leather at some point in the distant future.  I think once you have the pattern from the original covers it should not be too difficult.  I have a little experience on a machine though. Might be worth a try!

If money is no object i can see merit in there service, take your 126 in and collect it with a complete new interior. But only if the car is going to be used as a show car, by that i mean that the car body/underneath is immaculate and you can eat your dinner off the engine ;)

That reminds me i must have a word with my gardener to groom the lawns and cut the hedges :D :D :D

like what pete says its what you after at the end of the day

i have wanted a 126 from the first time i saw one and to come across such a good example
ill happly spend 1200 on a interior, after spending a few thousand in parts already i think it deserves it!!!
im more than happy to spend 2-3k on getting it looking good than go and buy a modern day motor thats going to to be worth only couple of hundred in a few years.

as for my aircooled seat covers would do fine but i couldnt sow a button on let alone make seats lol

like you say if you want to go down that route then thats your call but i think the crap vinyl or cord that the older 126s have is becoming of the car, if you have a show spec car at the end of your project then its worth it but for a daily driver nah, by the way what colour cord is it in your deville ? and is it on the road yet as i should have dajwid over next weekend and i think subvert is going to pop up at sometime? we could try and all meet up at once.

Or that could be as i can't read, or have been conned as intended. As if you look further into the ad, you learn that the £299 is to cover the deposit and not the seats!

dom thats a deposit the full price for cloth or vinyl or mix is £899 or £1200 for leather/mix.

mick the cord is a dark brown, seats are ripped and the door cards have holes from a bodged attempt at putting in speakers. I need to drop the engine out i think give it a full service and sort the starter motor.

i gave the starter motor a tap with a hammer then it sorta turned do the bushes go easily on these or shall i just take it to a recon place?

you can do it yourself very easily or you can spend around 50 notes to have it professionally done the later in my eyes is well worth it. dont drop the engine until youve got it running have you just bumped it and run it to see how the thing runs? i used my car for around a week once bumping to start as its so bloody easy!
