Mcr. UK Newbie
« on: December 03, 2008, 09:46:13 PM »
Hi there
Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Kev from Radcliffe, Manchester UK. I recently bought this very nice Air Cooled off ebay (search item no.170278520883).
I drove it the 100 miles home with a huge grin on my face and as the description stated 70mph on the M62 was suprisingly no problem, it held its own in traffic all the way no probs. I've had many varied cars over the years but I seriously can't remember one with as much character as 'little Pog' (christened off the Reg. No.). It did fail its MOT on sill corrosion but i am pleased to say this is very localised to the rear section of sill only and the rest of the car is in time warp condition. Its my plan to remove the plastic bumpers, side trims and black mirrors paint the sections where the side trims were & sills etc. and fit chrome bumpers and mirrors and when done use it as my alternate comuter to cycling. Tried out cold weather starting this morning when covered in 5" of snow, full choke no throttle started first turn of the key, I was well happy.
    Cheers for now, Kev

The 70mp/h does seem alot for a bis, not to mention an aircooled, but since ive never taken my car to the max i cant tell whats the fastest it can go. but seems ill have to do it soon...  ::) ::)

Welcome Brother.

Nice motor.

70 mph is cool. I can just about squeeze 72 mph out of my Aircooled, with a standard lump.

Have fun.
