Related to 'phreak97' post what do you own. What crap cars have you owned over the years? No decent cars allowed

Mine:-
Chrysler alpine great engine sound (NOT) rattle rattle.
Austin Maxi (couldn't kill it)
Talbot Tagora Remember them? thought not.
CitroÃ«n BX 1.4 guttless but great ride
CitroÃ«n GSA great car but rusted away
Alfa Romeo Alfasud great engine only lasted a month
Mini (automatic)
Skoda 120 (not bad really, no really, honestly)
Metro, no comment
Peugeot 504 diesel (left more oil on the road than it could ever use)
Volvo estate, comfort, safe, boring grandads car. Loved it

Toyota space cruiser boring

Vauxhall Vectra 2005 2.5 V6 my winner of the biggest crap of all.

Anyone beat that list of crap cars?

My best car of all time VW camper, what else (and any of my 126s of course)

All my cars have been either brilliant or pretty decent. I'm on my 4th classic VW, the 2nd 126 and the others were reliable French numbers...

No complaints from me

Lada Riva 1300 - the most unreliable car
Citroen C3 - a close runner up to a Lada
Daewoo Matiz - not far behind
OK
Citroen AX 15D - very economical
Kia Rio - good carrying space
Vauxhall Chevette -quirky
Good

The Lada Riva was a truly dreadful car, I bought it new :shock: and it regularly broke down and made friends with local tow trucks, at 3 years old everything was wrong with it and had reached the end, clutch, altenator, radiator, heater, engine, wheel bearings, brake cylinders. I sold it for 10% of what I paid for it, it was taken for test drive and the cabin filled with steam, the clutch was slipping, the lights went out, it still gives me a feeling of dread.

Worst cars must be 1975 datsun 100a fell apart the week after I brought it. Just about every range rover I have ever brought from ebay why can't people be honest with their descriptions. 1974 renault 15 I spent more time repairing it than driving it. Current fleet volkswagen golf 130 tdi (daily driver) discovery tdi (tow car) 1958 simca aronde (classic) 1972 volvo p1800es (project) 126 aircooled (scrap) mini (scrap) and finally the yellow peril a 126 based hillclimb car I have no idea if its a kit or home built but it looks like fun once I can get it finished Best cars of all time in no particular order renault 25 v6 turbo excellent old car very fast and comfy, maserati spyder great fun but i would of lost my licence if i kept it, '83 ford hearse great for the cross channel booze cruise plus plenty of film work. fiat 508c 1939 saloon never did get it back on the road but very advanced for its day. My old passat diesel purchased for Â£35 driven for 2 years then sold with 265000 miles to some guys doing a banger rally it went all the way down to spain and back without using a drop of oil. I could go on forever I have had so many cars. My simca should be at the retro rides show next weekend on the simca owners club stand so if anyone wants any aircooled parts before I scrap one then let me know and I can bring them along martin

Had my fair share of cack cars too:

Citroen BX14 (as per dajwid, except mine had a cracked head so was even more gutless) - only drove it once then traded it.

Fiat Uno 60 - slow but still too quick for the brakes (second car while I was doing not a lot with an XR2).

Ford Escort mk5 1.4 - dog slow and had a slipping clutch due to the awsome amount of power put out by the donkey of a CVH engine.

Had some gooduns too but save them for a later post...

all the cars ive had have had their merits and down sides....i wouldnt single one out....i always steered clear of the most famous piles of poo....so no real dogs im afraid...the saga is interesting,bits fail on it but parts an service are so cheap...like owning a chevy in the states...service in every town so no need for build quality

I've loved all my cars for their own reasons, i dont think i've owned anything really crap. i had an 80's magna that was a compete bomb, but it was heaps of fun because of that. and it was one of the early body types before the magna got fat and slow..

on the other hand, my mum has an early 90's mitsubishi magna.. it's been reliable in that it's never stranded either of us, but man is it a heap of junk. horrible to drive, always smells like burning plastic from the engine, really gutless. (another case of lets make the body bigger but not the engine, plenty of torque steer, it's the only car i ever came close to losing control of.. i had it fishtailing (slid a good 45 degrees to the left before having a go at the right then straightening up) after taking a bend a little too quickly and having to brake hard.. i've never been in danger of that happening in any other car, and i drove that road regularly for two or three years before that happened. just lucky i controlled it eh?.
the headlights are different brightnesses..
the timing chain was on it's way out when we got it (it was only 8-10 years old) the cv joints werent far behind.

if you accelerate and decelerate rapidly it confuses the ecu and the car starts to run like hell, really rough and shuddery, restarting the car fixes it.
if you back off and reapply the accelerator just as the auto trans decides to change gear, it changes to neutral and gets stuck there for a second before figuring out what it should be doing (enough time for the revs to go pretty high if you stick your foot in during that time)

i'm sure i could go on for quite some time about why you dont want a post-80's magna.. but ill leave it there, since my magna description is longer than most people's whole lists..
