Howdy folks. New to the forum but not motoring forums. I've had all sorts of transport in my 25 years of motoring but getting more unconventional all the time.
I've recently took on a new job not far away and wanted something to keep me dry when too wet to take the Honda C90 to work. After spending elndless days on ebay it was a 126 that took my eye. I've driven one in the past which bought back nostalgia when looking more into them, so I've now settled on getting one. Period!
I'll be bidding and scouring looking for the right one (preferably white) and no doubt will be asking advice along the way. In fact my first question would be, are they illegible for the Â£35 road tax :smt102

One question at a time so thanks in advance to anyone who answers that one, and I look forward to chatting more.

To answer your question about tax, no. I've just bought a 1978 652cc model the tax is Â£120 for a year or Â£66 for six months. I pay the same for my 1400cc Renault Clio, how ridiculous is that?

This government like to squeeze every last penny out of us.

Don't let that put you off though.

Cheers Steve. Jeesh we could get political eh? I really don't understand it either, but seeing how Smart cars get it aren't they a similar cc :smt102
I also know there's an application process but perhaps one or more of you guys have been through this?

Welcome to the forum Chad, hope you find a good one.

I think that every car since about 2001 has had a CO2 rating and the road tax gets lower the less polution they cause, but before that there is no rating so our cars are taxed at the lower rate as Steve said.

Ahh that 2001 thing. Understood. Just a shame they don't look at this again and include all years under a certain cc.

The only other 126's i know of on the island include a scrappy BIS that was once on wightbay and a faded red one in Ventnor

Do you have your eyes on a certain car?
