engine swap ? is it a straight swap ?

hello there ive got a fiat 500 with a fiat 126 549cc aircooled engine in it, ive been offered a possible engine but its a 650 cc aircooled engine ? is this still a straight swap ?

if i did buy the engine would i need the v5 log book etc etc ?

There is no fiat engine with a 549cc so perhaps a mistype?
So if you have a standard 500 engine (499cc) and gearbox there are a few modifications to change it to a 600/650cc 126 engine

If you have a 600cc or 650cc the change should then be a straight forward

No V5/regbook required if you are just having the engine.
but you have to notify the dvla with the engine number change. There is a section on the log book for this.

i have just spent ages looking for this excellnt old site, i had it in my favourites but the link was dead, i found it again on the Australian fiat 600 club    here it is it tells you everyting you need to know about doing the swap! I just hope you wont abuse/sacrifice a perfectly working 126 for your 500!

hello there , i have been told my engine in my fiat 500 is definately a 126 engine, it also has fiat 126 stamped on it .... when i get back from cyprus, i will list all the numbers i can see and maybe some pictures and maybe somebody can identify it for sure ....
