Banjo bolts
« on: September 12, 2007, 04:49:09 PM »
Would anyone happen to know if it is possible to get banjo bolts for the brake hoses in different thread sizes.

I have come to a problem I should've realised long ago, The thread in my new brake calipers is a very fine thread, perhaps M10x1, whereas the standard Banjo bolt appears to be M10x1.25. So I have totally mangled the thread of one of the calipers.

Where could I get this caliper re-threaded and would it be better to find a suitable brake hose for this caliper? I already have a set of uno hoses, but they seem far too long, though the thread is right.

have you thought of helicoiling to repair the damaged thread?

That is the direction I will probably go in. Still not sure if it will work with these calipers though, as the thread depth is greater than the banjo bolts length, so it will not touch the bottom of the hole in the caliper. Is this normal, or should I look to getting some special flexi-hoses with extended fittings and do away with the traditional banjo system?

Thanks for you help so far
