sorry if this is a silly or well asked question,i have looked at previous threads but don't understand it fully.
when lowering the front is it just a case of removing the front spring and refitting it upside down or is it more complicated??
also while were on the subject when cutting the rear springs does this make them loose when the body is jacked up?any help greatfully recieved

the eyelet of the spring is resversed on lowered springs. On standard it rolls from top to bottom, on lowered it rolls form bottom to top. You can either buy a replacement spring with revesre eyelit from EU (not very expensive) or take your current one to a coachbuilder/blacksmith. An easy way to lower the front is to shave some excess material from the Alu mounting blocks.

Cutting the rear springs has no adverse affects as any slack is taken up by the weight of the vehicle.

Lowering suspension has come up many times in previous topics, but isnt always documented well on the forum, you can get an idea of what people have done and what to avoid by using the search section of the forum

thanks michael,i will keep searching but like you said it would be easier if there were sections on here for certain topics esp well talk about ones..

just remeber when chop the springs to wire them into the spring cups, you may also need to chop the bump stops as mine was sitting on them.

ok mate will do,still trying to get me head around this front spring thing,
don't like having to pay someone if it's possible to do the work my self...

the front spring should be a bolt on job its getting one that seems to be the problem middle barton do a kit for about Ã‚Â£200 with new front and rear springs...

when they reverse the eye is this just a case or seperating the leafs and refitting the oposite way round,surely it can't be that bad a job or is it..
i suppose somethings are best left to the experts

they have to be re-tempered the opposite way round, the only thing is that they have to cut safety strap ends off. which works but i replaced the one i had done with the proper job from 500mania, for the safety aspect.

got it,,think i'll wait then and get the proper one,,i don't mind bodging a bit but not where safety is concered.thanks for the advice!

still plenty of other mods to get on with,think the wheels will be first and a exhaust,i've got a exhaust stud snapped on the rear pot at the bottom so don't really want to disturb it untill i've got a stud extracter,,,,not blowing yet though....cheers for all the advice it does help to ask people that know
