A reliable Bis

I just bought an old push bike, but the bloody weather will not agree and wont stop raining!
Don't mind a bit of rain, but not the torential downpours we've been getting everyday. May have to consider trading both my cars in for a boat! :x

Just to confirm - I have decided against a bis, primarily due to looking at the mechanical problem solving section of this site and seeing it inundated with Bis problems! :wink:

hey dom i saw in your post you have some old vespa's and they're unreliable??i'm a big vespa fan and currently have 4 and two halves in my garden next to my bis(which has it's head off as it needs skimming!)
what problems are you having with the scoots?i might be able to help,they're a great run-about when your cars out of action(i'm using mine daily at the moment!)

I'm also using one of the old vespa's now as a runabout and this one is pretty reliable. It's a 1966 125 super - pretty quick too.

I now only have two vespas as I got rid of one and the lambretta as I had no time to play with them. The unreliable vespa is the 1959 150VBA. Just as i got it working and insured, it stopped and now will not start again. Have taken the engine out but cannot remove the bolt to get the clutch off - have broken two tools in the process!

sorry for the late reply i'm toying with the idea of throwing out my bis lump and going down the hot-rod route after it burned it's head! it's breaking my heart at the minute but back to the vespas, there is a little washer beneath your clutch nut which should have an edge of it bent up to stop the nut spinning loose if you tap this down flat the nut should come off handy enough,if you've tried this and it's not working are you using a flywheel holding tool to stop your crank turning??

also check your coil theres a wire conected on ther by a spade conector
this came off on a primavera i was working on and caused much grief!
