yes, we did all that but the problem was the protective sticky paper has basically been on them so long it almost had bonded to them! so although they stuck on the car well, the paper stuck to them more, never mind.

Have you check the situation regarding your insurance, I was under the impression that your insurance was invalidated if you display racing numbers, the insurance company's classify cars with race number plates as 'road racing' which your insurance will not cover.

I used to race in a class which insisted that the car was driven to and from the circuit, it was normal practice to put a cross in black tank tape across the numbers to make sure that the car was legal on the road.

i dont have any insurance anyway if i get in an accident i can say its not a racing number but a short telephone number!! thanks for the tip. mick

actually to be a proper damp squib did you know that if you remove a production issue badge that is on your car   (ie. fiat badge) it can render your insurance invalid if not declared ? as its classed as a modification also its making your car more stealable so the insurance people tell me, how i dont know but it does!

hi,an insurance company will even get out off it if you fit alloys with out telling them,we had a new style mini in with the same thing,he was told the insurance was void and the car a total loss  :smt005 ,they can also do it on badges, stickers,kits,airfilters,exhausts anything basically they can class as a modification,sorry just thought i would add it

Sooooo......who on here has their car properly insured then? and if so where???.....................................i have been quoted £120ish full comp for all my mods......with a stated 40 bhp output......im doing it right this time guys........

Me....

The engine swap was cheaper to insure than the highly tuned aircooled... somthing to do with the more standard state of tune of the engine despite it being over three times more powerful than a stock 126 engine!

Still a shade over £200 fully comp

i pay 180 for each of my 126 s (x3) fully comp with named driver and declared alterations/modifications .

ive had qoutes for about £180 fully comp,with mods,

    youve got me there mic,never mind when its done if i dont like it i could always scrap it,he who gives life can take it away  :smt021   ,after all theres loads of aircooled convertibles on the road i must see at least 20 a week,i just couldnt understand why 5th gear were so intrested in one they found at a motor show last year, :roll:
