P.S. Have you tried using 2x10mm spacers to see if that will give you enough clearance ?

have tried using 2 of the spacers and the caliper still doesn't clear the rim. If i go any further, the flange will no longer be over the dust cap of the wheel bolt, and I think the wheels will probably fall foul or the arches and thus fail an mot. I will try though and see how much it takes for the caliper to be free from the inside of the rim.

I am not sure what car the calipers come off originally, I believe either the polonez or a Fiat Uno I think. They say fiat on them

Nigel, was your brake set up the same as mine or was it from Rudd - fiesta?

this seems very odd,Dom,i dont mean to be rude, but ave you assembled it all correctly?...is the disc fitted and the caliper fittd to the correct side of the new backplate?......are the calipers handed?,a good indication is where the bleed nipple is,it should be above the brake pipe fitting, please dont take offense ,but it does seem odd that the caliper is so big an intrusive to the back of the wheel, the kit was sold as 126/500 right?.

loike i say, please dont take offense.

No offence taken, I am a complete novice, so any advice is taken as just that. I'm pretty sure it is assembled correctly as the disc is right against the hub and caliper can only fit in the position it is in. I'm beggining to think that I have been fleeced and kit is not really right for the car.
Got it from Italian ebay, but didn't actually buy it through ebay, but through a personal seller via paypal on the side. The listing does day uit is 126, but he supplied me with 'the complete kit' here is the listing

Has had lots of good feedback and has sold around 20 of the same kits. I got it complete with kingpins, stub axles etc and expected it to be a bolt in swap.

It is a mixture of both. Very frustrating. I will have another play at the weekend and see what is exactly the problem. I think it is mainly deth that is the problem, but as a consequence the dimeter becomes too small as the wheel is cone shaped

That would be fantastic as I don't want to give up and be lumbered with a useless set of brakes

Hopefully I will fix the old drums this week, so at least the car will be back on the road - it's been over a month of it just sitting getting more rusty

Cheers Dave

i'm using this old topic again........
i have a set of cinquecento disc's & callipers in my possesion
and have made up a caliper bracket for one side from 6mm plate steel but now the bis front hub wont go back onto the axle far enough because it is touching against the plate steel has any one fitted a bis disc conversion??
(i dont know if they are any different to air cooled ones!)
could some one post a template up please?or let me know of any spacings etc i may need?
thanks in advance

does your mounting plate look the same as the TRS ones?

if its not clearing then it sounds like the brackets will need a bit more material removed from around the centre axis
