who saw the tonight program on this, when it was applied on its own every body lost out (obviously), but when they tried it with reduced fuel tax and no VED the only person to be better off was the rich guy in the 4X4 doing a very high millage, he was better of by Ã‚Â£2000, every one else lost out!!!!!!!

I thought they wanted to get gus guzlers of the road, this will only make them more attractive

laughable isnt it, i didnt see that programme Bruce but i read in the paper that Tony Blair said this is just the start of the debate, surely 1.8m signitures should mean somthing???

i think road pricing is a brilliant way to go , they should charge at least a pound a mile that way no one could afford to work, then we could all go on the social,take up daytime drinking,make more babies,leaving all our jobs open for imagrants to take up and drive around in unregistered untaxed uninsured nissans. i love new labour, bring on the brown machine it can only get worse!

now an appology to anyone i have offended , love mick.

to be honest is there any solution that will ever be acceptable to the
masses? i think we should go down the deathrace 2000 route .

actually if they did price roads and stopped car tax and fuel tax i would be one of the few who would be better off as i travel down quiet rural roads to get to work at hours out of the peak times but i still think its a crap

why cant they just do away with the tax disc and add it to fuel even if its 10p a litre the people who do low miles in a economical car will pay less and the gas guzzlers will pay more now how fair would that be and every forign car entering the UK will have to pay to use the roads even all the polish cars that are over here will be paying the tax unlike now

why will they lose money every single car truck and bike on the uk roads will have to pay the extra tax on fuel if they bring in road pricing the non uk registered cars will pay nothing

It's because the government is greedy! Their intentions are to have an extra tax on petrol and also to continue with road tax which will probably be reduced at first and like usual it will creep back up again.
To drop the road tax is not in their plans!

i think adding to petrol prices as part of road tax would be a good idea!!
as you said though Chris the government have no plans to do that.
