Wheels -again!!!

Obviously this is a completely theoretical question.....

Say if someone with a Fiat 126 bis drove nearly 200 miles to get her new alloys wheels and bought them home with great pride but when she looked at them more closely they looked a little on the wide side, ebay link.....

Would she:

a.  Have completely wasted her money?
b.  Might be able to fit some spacers or something?
c.  Have to sell her Fiat and buy a car that they would fit?

looks like they should fit wendy, 13" i think its has the right stud pattern 98, only thing that worries me is the rim width, 5.5J might stick out a bit??

Hi Wend, theoreticaly if you,,,, sorry if someone had bought these wheels for a 126 they should be o.k. i have just fitted the same size to mine. i just rolled the wing edge up to give extra clearance, by the way they look very similar to my tsw wheels

mine are that size and im afraid the do........... im lowering the hell out of mine to tuck the tops of the wheels to make them road legal but its best to keep a standard set of rims for the mot.......

its all to do with the off set,mine are 5 1/2 x 13,fit great..........perhaps we should collate this wheel info? a sticky with known types /sizes etc??

1) cromodora CD 11 magnesium alloy 5 1/2 j x 13'' - pcd 98mm
comments-
fit ok with standard lug nuts and  little or no mods  to wheel arches,tyre size is critical tho
where to get?-ebay or scrap yards,look out for Fiat 131's sport/racing/abarth versions
cost?-mine £98.00 for four in need of refurbishment

Ok, I just passed on all that you said to my err 'friend'.  

I'm trying to word this right ....  When you put the wheel on, the rim hits the underside of the car before the bit with the bolts meets the middle of the wheel.  :roll:  

Does the offset of 38 make a difference?

so,you cannot bolt them to the hub then?....what size tyres are on there wendy-i mean on your freinds wheels?......the biggest you can go with standard wheel arches is 155/165x55/60/65 ish

mmnn,so,the car jacked up,you offer the new wheel up,but the back of the wheel/the rim is hitting the suspension before you can bolt it up yer?....if thats the case you might get away with spacers.

its not really recommended the spacer lark,but there was store locally that had some NOS 'paddy hopkirk' spacer kits

i think they are good for about an inch/25mm or so....i'll call them tomorrow if that will help?

Hi Wend when you say the wheels won't go on do you mean that they won't fit on the hubs?  the hole in the centre of the wheel should measure 58mm in diameter, if it does it looks like the offset is the wrong one, as Dave said, spacers are available from 10mm upward but you'd have to work out what size you need.... sorry your friend needs......  the smaller the spacer is best

a little cheat for you is to put a narrower tyre on a wider rim this stretches the tyre and thus lowers the profile and makes the walls rounder so fit in the arches better.

I helped a freind build a hydralic suspensioned beetle, it sat so low (literally on the floor if you wanted) he fitted citreon 2cv tyres on the front rims but it was so tight when he had it at the lowest driving height it burnt the paint in the tops of the wings from the inside...

I really want to see what these extensions would look like with really wide weels.  They are pretty expensive though.  Any cheap versions from Poland?
