« on: October 23, 2006, 06:16:35 PM »
Sorry Folks ive looked everywhere on that cd rom but cant find 1 bit of information out for my BIS. I want to do the timing for it as its pinking a bit, however I know its 10btdc with the vacume advance disconnected, but which cylinder is number 1   (Please be the one closest to me as the other plug is a pig to get to)

If you are using a strobe for the timing. Just try either, you will soon see if you have selected the correct one.
It is quite possible that either plug would be suitable for a 2 cylinder, but dont quote me on that??

Right, it was the plug closest to me. The other one was miles off. Now the problem is ive bought the car into work but left my strobe light at home and its pinking pretty bad. Which way do i need to turn the distributor to retard the timing, is it anti clockwise?

hi mate, just loosen the nut off on the clamp so it can be turned, preferably get some one to start the car while you hold the distributor (so it doesnt spin round and damage itself)

Then just turn it (i think its clockwise you want) and you will hear the engine speed up/slow downdont do it too much, just remember tye orginal position, THEN REMEMBER TO DO THE NUT BACK UP PROPERLY ON THE CLAMP!

hope this helps
