Rear Shocks gone???
« on: October 04, 2006, 07:11:26 PM »
Hello folks,

New persons silly questions time again :-)

Just fitted a new exhaust on the pink bis, not too bad a job. Gave me the chance to removed the snapped stud from the cyl head that some previous 'plank' has broken. Only one thing i noticed on the test drive though, its very bouncy at the back, not very well damped out at all.

Are these usually bouncy or should they be well damped?

Next question what shock absorbers are needed?  I notice a few places list ones as suitable for 500/126 Air cooled but nothing specific for the BIS.

Thanks in advance.

they are a bit soft in the rear, same as an aircooled, rock hard front, and soft rear, sleepy policemen catch them out.............,i hope you were carefull fitting the exhaust, they are prone to stress failure if fitted under any form of stress, the bottom brackets sometimes need carefull shimming so as not to stress the cylinder head end......again,the aircooled can suffer with this as well.

hope all goes well for you

Thanks 126Dave,

I think i've done OK on the 'zorst.  I aligned the downpipes and did those up then fitted the brackets afterwards, i made sure there was no stress on the brackets and got them all lined up with washers to space them properly.

As for the back end, its not just a case of being soft, its seems very bouncy and un-damped, this was what im unsure about, not like you see 126's everyday so cant go and bounce another :-)
