2nd hand 126 aircooled or BIS Inner panel for mounting rack

Does anybody have an inner front panel for an aircooled or a bis I need the mounting brackets for the steering rack along with the clamps that bolt onto them. I'm not bothered if they are not perfect as long as they are useable.

The panel can be cut out with an angle grinder in one chunk, this will allow me to trim to fit. Cash waiting.

Dave thats brilliant thanks very much, it is actually for a good friend of mine who, fuelled by my enthusiasm for my hot rodded 500 and my constant cajoling, foolishly  bought himself a restoration project.

Some of his faculties have remained so at the moment he is working on the body, converting to a rack and pinion (one of the best things I did to my 500) and building up a tuned aircooled.

He would be happy to pay for it, perhaps if you come over for the Brooklands event he can buy you a drink.

sounds great!.......i'll strap the little bugger down this weekend (hopefully)  and perform the surgery........its a BIS,so does not deserve anesthetic...............

Strange how these things come together, by some quirk of fate Derek (my mate with the 500) has a daughter who is going to Jersey on holiday with her boyfriend on Saturday for a week, they have a hire car so could collect from you if its convienient.

ok nigel,front outer/inner panel removed today,now i can see the inner innerpanel you want,how much of it is needed?,just the portion around the mounts?or do you want me to cut the whole panel??

We are planning to weld the panel over the 500 one to make a re-enforced double skin so one or two inches to the left and right and above. Does it turn a right angle below the brackets? from memory it does, if so, having a little bit of this bend will help us get the positioning right.

i got you,will cut tomorrow and give as many/much datum points as possible............master cylinder cutouts etcetc..........
you will need to sand blast the donor panel,not rusty rusty,but breaking out in places with 'spiders'......

as an aside,that panel is very critical........the BIS has spread out now,both inner wings have parted company from the floor pan about 10mm.............am gna put the other two on the ramps and get some waxoil up there!!!

I think pretty much every panel is critical on the 500's and 126's their isn't much structure in there to start with, I head about sombody last night who, with the car standing on its wheels, removed both floor pans on a 500 at the same time and came back the next morning to find the centre of the sills were touching the ground. :roll:
