:D Hi, I'm a new Fiat 126 owner (Eugene), even though I can't drive yet  I get great enjoyment from sitting in him! We drove him all the way from Tunbridge Wells which kind of killed him ( think the starter motors gone along with a million other things!) but I'm determined to give him a new lease of life and learn to drive in him. If anyone knows of any parts dealers who deliver to W.Mids I'd be grateful. Anyway I'll keep you posted on his progress. :smt051

Hi hun,

I had a 126 as my first car, learnt to drive in it AND took my test in it (much to the examiners disgrace!!)

Good luck, get those lessons booked and get Eugene sorted and get out there in your fab car!

:smt061 Thanks everyone for the kind welcome to the club! My Eugene's a bis. As I'm a newbie I don't know the diff between air cooled etc, so please forgive me for being so blonde! As for the long list of probs are you sure you've got the space or the will to live? Here goes ; Brakes don't work - need new shoes, gear selector needs work (keeps poppin out of 1st), exhaust has corroded, door catches stick, new carburetta, new starter motor needed, body work, and because he's an old boy, a new interior is needed inc inside panels, but thats the least of my worries! After making the list I'm still going to stay loyal and fix him up so wish me luck!

hi, alot of people pefer the aircooled, as it was an orginal design,  the water cooled version (the BIS) goes faster and is a hatchback so you have a boot!

new shoes are cheap i got mine off ebay £15 inc postage,

Exhausts are quite dear about £70 new again keep an eye on ebay somebody here might have a a spare they can sell you thats in good condition.

When you say it pops out of first that usualy means the gearbox is dodgy, but you can get a 2nd hand gearbox for £50-60.

They do reconditioned starter motors, but you are probably best off getting one from someone on here.

Carb might just need looking at, plenty of polish made ones kicking about i got a Weber(apprently better) carburetta off ebay for £16.

how many miles has your 126 done?

regards
