Hi,
Have a Fiat 500 with a 126 engine.
Have a baffling problem as my engine died and no matter what I try, can't get it going (nor could the AA man who came to my rescue when it broke down....)
Doing 50mph, started coughing and spluttering, revs started to die, then engine died on me. He cleaned out the carb and jets, tested fuel pump but still wouldn't start.
After he'd got me home,I cleaned the carb again, all the jets and tested the spark plugs which sparks. Needle valve allows fuel in and float chamber is full.
So, fuel is getting to the plugs and they spark but still won't start....
So thinking ignition. I bought new plugs but no difference.
So, I now need to go through a process of elimination. Condensor, coil, HT Leads, carb etc. Which as we all know may end up costing a fortune on unnecessary parts. Would there be a kind soul in the SW London/Surrey area who can loan me these bits for me to try before I order the eventual part that is faulty? It's a 652cc engine which has been converted to wasted spark ignition but I can put it back to normal if somebody has the bits. (Coil, rotor arm, condensor, points.)
Thanks
PC
