I use a 3/8 extension bar with tape wrapped round the square end to the diameter of the hole in the clutch plate 😁

I used a 1/2 socket. Don't remember the size but it was in a standard set up to 22mm. It was a snug fit, but once aligned o could remove the socket by pulling and turning at the same time.

Maybe worth investing in a universal clutch alignment tool kit. There's plenty on Ebay for around £9.

The ultimate tool is to use a spare gearbox input shaft because it has to be the right size
Got a spare one if interested ?

I've done it by eye before and by using my fingers to feel the distance the clutch plate is away from the edge of the sprung plate and making sure they are equal. When I slide the box on it usually goes on with a bit of wiggling
