Vacuum pipes
« on: January 25, 2018, 10:01:12 AM »
Can anyone please send me a diagram of where the vacuum pipes go on the Bis. I have a Webber carb fitted and not sure where the pipes shoud go.
Thanks, Graham.

I understand the basics of how a carb functions but I've always been unclear about the vacuum lines. Can anyone give me a 101 on what each of the vacuum pipes do/how it works.

As I understand it, as the engine gets faster, the vacuum created at the manifold *ahem* sucks harder and so it adjusts the carb's fast idle. Is the ferrule at the right side of the carb, the one that connects to the dizzy, similar? I assume it's vacuum is created elsewhere, and if not wonder why both lines don't go to the manifold.

And also, whats the difference between the idle screw at the bottom of the carb, and the one on the side?

Thanks Gerhard, I have the English version (if you are a club subscriber you get access to a member section with downloads like that). Interestingly the German version is slightly different... a different carb and there seems to be a temperature gauge connected into the hose at the top.

Vergaser gibt es uns mindestes 3 verschidene.
Ja mit Temperatursensor.

Carburetor gives us at least 3 different ones.
Yes with temperature sensor.
