Registering a Polish car in the UK
« on: November 28, 2017, 09:15:57 PM »
Hi folks. is there anyone out there who's recently imported a car from Poland and can help me with the conundrum of the V55/5 form?

In a nutshell - the "how to fill in this form" document is asking for things like type approval, type, variant and dimensions etc and saying this can be found on the Certificate of Conformity of MVSA certificate. All I have is Polish V5 doc with very basic information and not anything to do with the above, a polish MOT, a UK MOT and a Polish insurance certificate for the previous owner, my insurance certificate based on the VIN and a "green card" allowing the previous owner to drive it in the UK in Polish plates.

Do I need to get the car type approved before I can complete the V55/5??

TIA

I didn't need type approval for mine. I declared it exempt due to age.

I had that problem so I phoned the DVLA, they said to fill it out as best I could and just to leave blank what I could not find out, CO2 emissions etc.  They just leave the rest blank when you get the V5.

Yes I did a bit research and discovered that type approval isn't necessary if the car is over 10 years old so just left all that blank. It wasn't clear that type approval, certificate of conformity and IVA all mean the same thing.
