Removal of gearbox and clutch
« on: November 15, 2017, 02:19:42 PM »
So I have decided to remove the gearbox and clutch I have removed the four bolts either side connected to the hub and and also the clutch cable and gear linkage and removed all bolts that come from the gearbox. Is there any other bolts I need to remove as I want to get to the clutch and have a look at the gearbox.

Don't forget the speedo cable that is tucked in there, you should be able to unscrew by hand.

I've removed the speedo cable but where is the reverse light switch is it a blue and white wire connected to two prongs that you pull off next to the speedo cable . Thanks everyone for your help can't wait to get stuck in and have a look at the gearbox and clutch.

If it was me changing a clutch I would would remove the engine and leave the gearbox in the car. It’s very difficult to support the engine (which only has one mount at the front) and remove the box,  in fact removing both together would be a better idea.

Ok so somehow today I managed to get the gearbox out by jacking the car up to a ridicolous height and sliding it out the side and I kind of forgot the speedo cable and it popped of. Does that mean its broke or can I just pop it back on. I removed the clutch to and that is absolutely grinded down to the max the pad that is but I have a full replacement kit which is good. I checked in the gearbox and there is no teeth missing just a few little scratches and tiny dents on the teeth will this make a difference? All the help I can get will be great.
