wings/wheel arch differances
« on: June 29, 2006, 06:50:17 PM »
Ok i have a C reg FSM aircooled and i have a genuine Fiat replacement wing.

The flare around the wheel arch on the old wing is much wider (maybe 15-25mm wider) than on the replacement wing i have. So my new wing wont fit.

Did they change the width of the wheel arches at some point? i know wings for BIS are differant so maybe my car has BIS wings on it?

any ideas on the differances between BIS wings and Aircooled ones and if later aircooleds would have had BIS wings from the factory? I dont want to go buy another wing and find its the wrong one!

your C reg will have the flared arch type wings as the Bis has, earlier cars do have a narrower wing. not sure when the change happened but all FSM and BIS have the wider arches.

I've bought Fiat 500 panels from axel and they were okay - not brilliant but as good as anywhere else. I suspect the panels mostly come from the same plant these days and quality is not ideal. Middle Barton showed me some Fiat panels and third party panels - they were from the same factory and the only difference was the price and a sticker. Both were thinner/lighter than original panels though.

I've found post from axel (DSL) to be fast and cheaper than the UK Fiat suppliers once you get above tiny orders - it starts at €8.
