I was checking the hoses around the carb area to make sure none of the hoses were loose. One of the hoses below the carb connected to a gizmo (solenoid?). From this, a hose connect back to the carb. There is a electrical wire connected to it via a plug which snapped. I tried to take a photo of it, but I couldn't take a clear picture of it.

If you click on the link, I think it is the bit on the left of the photo were the two hoses connect.

That's the solenoid that operates the vacuum on the carb to increase the rev's when the electric fan kicks in

Many thanks Pete. I think because of the broken wiring, the solenoid isn't working. A piece of the metal terminal that protrudes from the solenoid is broken and is stuck in the plastic plug. Is the solenoid still available?

The idling very slightly decreases when the fan switches on (usually 5 second bursts). That is when I usually bring the choke up slightly to compensate.
