Broken distributor
« on: May 04, 2017, 07:26:29 PM »
I bought a spare distributor off that there eBay which looked OK at first but the bob weight mechanism was a bit sticky.

I took it apart one found one of the pins had come loose but not detached.

The pin on the right is loose and wobbly so the weights don't work correctly.

I've had a little brass jig made up to hold the pin in place while a I weld it. I'll fire up the mig tomorrow night fingers crossed I can save a distributor from the bin.

I've had some success with the distributor repair.

After grinding back the worn rivet area and fitting it to the brass jig I was able to add a spot of weld to the back of the pin to secure it in place.

It won't be balanced but  not sure how much of an issue that will be. I'll fit it to the distributor and test it.
