126 BIS Flooding
« on: October 02, 2016, 01:27:38 PM »
I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't quite see the answer so here goes!

Fiat 126 with a Polish carb, runs well on the road but on tickover is rich and tries to die, after removing the air cleaner I can see fuel dripping down both venturis. If I turn the engine off the fuel still drips and sits on the throttle flaps, obviously seeping past them.

The carb has been cleaned out and all looks well, is the float level too high? would this cause this? if so can you help me with the correct measurement, I can find it for a weber but not the Polish carb unless its the same?

thanks, Neil

take the float out and give it a shake to see if there is a hairline fracture in it, a small volume of petrol may be in it causing it to sit low, the brass floats get brittle over the years, you can solder them bit use the minimum and swipe away any excess, also check the little inline filter, I always fit an extra inline filter in the supply line as debris may be causing the float needle not to seal correctly, those old fuel tanks love to rust esp around the seam
