Where & what to buy to make my 650cc Air cooled 126 FASTER!

Hopefully in a few weeks or so my 126 will be finished body wise and painted and hopefully me & my dad will be ready to work on the engine.

My question is what parts can I buy to make this little thing go faster? We were thinking of putting a Fiat Seicento 1.2 engine in it but I want to keep this 126 original.

Any ideas on how to make this little thing go faster on it's original 650 air cooled engine will be appropriated!

Hi Nathan , good to hear that your 126 is coming together and I think that is a wise decision to stick to the air cooled engine if you care about originality but also potential engine swaps can knock 4 figure sums off the value of your car if not done properly. There are volumes written here about how to get more power out of the engine so I suggest that you start trawling through the tuning section for ideas. It all comes down to how big your wallet is but a basic tuning package would require carb, cylinder head work, camshaft and exhaust, good luck

I've been interested in more information about which carbs to buy and what im actually looking for is their anything on here with that sort of information?

Hi.

If you want to wake the beast up by doing some bolt on soft tuning, without dismantling the engine, you can gain more or less 10-15% of power, lets say 2-4 horsies  killed by the primitiv carb, plugged exhaust and the old-fashioned ignition. But do not expect miracles. It is just the pleasure to get it done.

- electronic ignition: external module helping the points and removing the condenser or pointless module in the dizzy or Hall pick-up with external module. Iridium spark plugs plus propper ht leads.

- single barrel 30 or 32mm carb with acceleration pump (good enough for bolt on tunning). Progressive two barrels Panda 30/Bis type carb. Or the macho double barrel 40mm Dellorto DHLA/Weber DCOE - really expensive, but with a high level of satisfaction and wow effect, even over a single inlet port head. Also no one could tell you the correct jetting for any carb you choose.

- make sure to find a silencer that will perform well. According to many fans, the ones on the market are OK only for manish sound, even the Abarth Record Monza, the best looking pipe.
