On the other hand, all it would take to make it a rather tasty engine is to put on a Panda 30 head - all the other bits you'd want to take advantage of the swap are already there, except maybe you might want a different cam - although from what I've read over the years swapping camshafts with these engines is a fairly risky black art, and the most successful/reliable cars are usually described as having a "mild" race cam or words to that effect. This suggests that actually the standard one is pretty good for the sort of use most of us will make of these cars. Or to put it another way, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I don't know if there is such a beast as an "Abarth spec" engine, is there? I imagine Abarth produced hundreds of engines of slightly varying specs, in the nature of rally and race folks. But a 70% increase in power would make the brand name you stick on it rather immaterial!
