2 mile break down
« on: June 21, 2016, 09:07:04 AM »
Its done it to me twice consecutively now, all runs well and drive off to the shops, then in 2 miles, a pop / bang as it misfires and total loss of power. Turns over but doesn't fire. Get towed home.
First one was a condenser that had failed.
Second one the condenser is ok but same symptoms.

650cc aircooled.

Help. .. Coil ?
Thanks
Dean

Could be crud in your petrol tank getting sucked up onto the gauze filter in the tank and then cutting off the supply of fuel.  Does the car restart if you leave it for a while?

Is the battery attached correctly or is it loose?

The second condenser could be faulty even if bought brand new, its not common but does happen some times.

Other than that i would look at the coil next  :)

I've read on line that this could be due to a fault with the thermostat which is a possibility as all was working well prior to my head gasket change. I think I may have made a mistake connecting the tin / thermostat on the rebuild so that's the next port of call.
