new speedo help?
« on: March 25, 2016, 07:31:04 PM »
hi folks i have a 1986 126 that someone brought over from poland. i recently bought a mph speedo display but my car has around ten or eleven thousand less miles than is displayed on the new unit. im wondering if there is any way for me to take back the miles to the correct number? i thought about just winding it back with a drill but i dont wanna incase i break something.

does anyone have any info on registering the car in the uk and getting uk plates? i have looked on the gov websites  but have been left a bit foggy headed and unsure. all help is much appreciated!
cheers

If you do a search there are a few threads detailing the registering process - I know I used them. My rough rememberings say:
1) order the import pack from gov asap
2) insure on the vin on arrival
3) mot against the vin
4) fill out forms as best you can, don't need a certificate of conformity if it's overs 10 years old
5) get the v5 through with a week or two and get down your local number plate makers!
6) forget to tell your insurance company the new number plate and get accused of driving without insurance.

It's a surprisingly easy process to be honest.
