Funny but true

We have a couple of funny but true stories in a recent post so how about you post yours here

I worked for a hydraulics company years ago and we had a Father and son working there,the father is very clever to the point of being over the top and the son a nice lad but all the lights not switched on
The ceiling in the workshop required painting and they decided that they could paint it by climbing on top of the overhead crane which was about thirty foot in the air, so as a safety precaution dad tied about sixty foot of rope round his sons waist and to the crane
If he had fallen the result would have been son hitting floor followed by another thirty foot of rope


Same lad sat on tower scaffolding dismantling it leans over and pulls out cross brace
Big Bang cloud of dust and its down with lad sat in middle unscathed

Father repairing his Mini which is up on ramps leans through open window and starts it up , car is in gear and choke fully out
Result car lurches off ramps straight through the back of his caravan

These are all true and as I remember more of there antics I will post them up, and by the way I haven't named them as I still see them quite regularly running there own hydraulics company

One of my engineering lecturers back in the 60/70s told this story about a worker at one of the major airplane companies in the Watford area after the war.
Security was very strict with employee's vehicles being searched when leaving the factory. This guy rode a motorcycle combination and wanted a new sidecar . In those days it was not uncommon to see a motorcycle combo with just the bike and a bare sidecar frame. See where this is going?
The guy and his mates built a bespoke coach built sidecar in secret. Man turns up for work on his combo with a bare frame in the morning then after a bit of lunchtime "activity" drives out the gate at the end of the day with a nice new sidecar
