BV I am looking forward to you singing that to me :-)
Only clocked up 150 miles so far but already managed to blow a coil , changed the thermostat which is a horrible job then today I guess that I had not pushed the dip stick home and it blew out at high revs so got some oil to clear up :-(
If tinning means pushing the noise pedal to the floor then I have given it a couple of goes and the signs are good with the Abarth cam getting into stride above 4,000 rpm but still in shake down mode so mostly being gentle. In the meantime here is the only view of my car that you will see when we get out on the road together :-)

Love it, Rusty! Good to see you've got the alloy sump thing sorted as well, I was worried I might have failed my apprenticeship! Looking forward to seeing you in my rear view mirror sometime, My silver has got a bit of extra oomph! to it so we might have to do a bit of fast n' furious!  ;D

the car looks great. just wanted to ask what cam did you put in and how much of a difference does it make to power (i understand you havent realy given it the beans) but i was just woundering because i was going to put a better cam in my car but i have heard that the standard 650 cam is a pritty good cam already.

thanks for any replyies in advance.

Mike.

BV if you are quick and pull a handbrake turn you may just get a glimpse of me in your mirror  :P
Mics126 , cheers mate , things are moving on but loads of work to do as ever. The engine now in the car was something of an experiment using parts I hoped would match up and the signs are good at the moment. The camshaft is an original 70's Abarth fast road cam , ultra rare but I stumbled upon this nos one on ebay. Rest of the spec is alloy sump , Bis crankshaft, lighter 500 flywheel, sport exhaust , alloy fan, electronic ignition, rebore to 662 ccs and a cylinder head is from a tuned 594 engine . I went from a perfect standard engine to this within a day or two so although I have not done the bean thing I can feel more low down torque and there is a willingness to rev outside of the normal range going by those red dots on the speedo.  :)
Did you see the post about the sport cam project ?

Hi Mike , I missed you're post but just spotted it. As the Bis crankshaft and bearings were good used ones that I pulled from another engine I did not go for a major run in period. Gave it about 150 miles to let everything bed in . I think that the most noticeable difference is the acceleration when it hits a certain rev range and it will turn in 70 mph on the gps sat nav so quite pleasing to drive even at low revs with a nice burble from the exhaust. I had hoped to fit the twin choke weber before Retro Rides but it looks like I am running out of time on that one  :)

sounds good. I was going to fit the 30 dgf carb but thn i decided to go all out by fitting a turbo, so thats what i'm trying to do right now.

do keep us up dated i have always liked tuning the original engine because i think it is a solid engine(i have had mine at 9000rpm droping down the gears and had no issues) and performs well for its size.
