Fiat 600 engine or lancia a112 on fiat 126??
« on: September 23, 2013, 08:35:55 PM »
Hello!

I just did buy a fiat 126 and have a 4 cylinder engine, What is it for engine? Is it a fiat 600 engine or lancia a112 engine? The diffrent between the fiat 600 and lancia is fiat 600 have 30hp? and lanica 70hp and i dont now?

But the gearbox is finish and i gone get a new one or a reibuld, but can i get a fiat 126 gearbox or do i need some better stuff? Maybe can i buy a 126 gearbox and put some racing clutch or something?

What should i do?

And is 8/39 better then 9/39 gearbox?

Sorry for so many questions  :(

Pictures on the engine i have:

The engine code should be visible between the exhaust manifold and dipstick. It does look like an A112.

All I can find is your post on forum svezia. This number is probably the unique engine identifier (date of manufacture and line built on ) the code on the other side identifies the engine block. It should say A112AB FIAT. It could be a 127 engine with the A112 head wedged on, so worth checking.

I think that it is a 1050cc from a 1977 to 1979 Autobianchi A112.

You will probably be better of with a Fiat 600 gearbox. Loads of the 600 Abarth replicas use the A112 engine coupled to the standard box.

Okey, so you think a fiat 600 gearbox is better? And that gearbox fit with no problems in My fiat 126 with a a112 engine?
But it relly hard to find a good fiat 600 gearbox, it cost like 2000 dollar, and a 126 gearbox cost like 7800 euro :/

Tate is using a 600 gearbox. It`s not a straight swap, but it is stronger than the standard 126 gearbox.

What gearbox is fitted to your car at the moment? If it is a standard gearbox there must be some sort of adapter plate?
