Air cooled 1989, 650 cc
Fitted a reconditioned carburettor with new needle valve and float.
Runs well on choke but dies when I use the accelerator.
Got a leak of fuel into the carburettor base.
Suggestions of how to fix welcomed.

Sounds like a main jet issue.
Perhaps there is debris or rust in the fuel system? Do you have an inline fuel filter? also worth checking the float is set to the right height.

Hi Chris,
I unscrewed the main jet nozzle from the bowl, cleaned it out. I set the float height and the engine runs fine now, however I'm still getting a small amount of fuel leaking into the plastic base (directly below the carb). Looks like it's coming through the gasket between the carb cover and main part of the carb.
Do you have any suggestions about how to stop that leak?
