I need a water pump seal
« on: April 04, 2012, 10:36:16 PM »
I need a bis water pump seal, there are two parts to it , a oil seal and a water seal.

There is some joker selling one on ebay , item number 290688435301

There must be another place to source one ? Any of you polish members got any ideas?

The one on ebay is astronomical in price  :o

Any help would be great , cheers

I know that you get one with a sump from axel gerstl, think I still have my old sump, will have a look.

Did you get a thermostat housing?, found my old one.

Popik81 that last link you put on there had the part i need near the bottom of the page ,

Man are things cheaper in poland !

Hazey-n-marc i did get the housing , from a member on here .

I have got a spare engine for my bis which has 15,000 miles on it, ( mine has 45k)which i am kinda going to town on. I plan to replace the front and rear oil seals as the timing cover end one is leaking. The engine had a broken thermostat housing from where it had been removed from a mint 126 which believe it or not had been put in on the scrappage sceme a while back .
So i want to replace with new parts , i took the old seal out after removing the rusty impeller .
My plan is to paint the block red and polish all other bolt on parts

Then swap engines

Parts seem to be a lot more available in poland , bleedin england

It might be possible (don't take my word for it) to revitalise the old seal by draining the coolant out, then pouring a bit of petrol into the thermostat housing and hand cranking the engine very slowly, then flushing it all out, replumbing and refilling with coolant. Could be worth a go.

 :D

That might work if some silly sod who should have walked indoors to use his ipad regarding how rare the part is had not mullered the old seal removing it with a screwdriver had hammer :o

The inner oil seal is still in the sump

As this is my spare lump , it can sit on the bench in my garage till i source the part , i just did not want to go to all the trouble of sorting the engine to find it leaking at a later date .

We live and learn !!
