Quick question
« on: December 18, 2015, 03:11:45 PM »
On the BIS engine, is the distributor supposed to have some kind of seal or gasket fitted between it and the timing cover, to stop oil escaping?  :$

My engine is almost back together now, but when I disassembled it there was nothing present there.

Are the Zelmot and the Magnetti Marelli distributors completely interchangable on the BIS?
To me the MM dizzys seem to be a better design and are cheaper to buy.

Yes they are. I'm running a MM dizzy on mine as I went through 2 zelmot ones due to poor build quality on the base plates. The MM versions are a lot better and their points adjustment is a lot easier too as you adjust them via a hole in the side that accesses an Allen bolt that opens and closes the points - so much easier!  ;) the only snag is that the points are an all in one item like a kind of cassette that just drops in so they can be expensive - between £10 and even £21  :o
