What 126 to buy
« on: July 03, 2015, 09:44:41 PM »
I'm after a 126 RH drive but unsure on what model I should buy, which model is rarer and more valuable? What model is more sort after. I understand the 126 bis has a water cooled engine with increased bhp.

The earlier the car the more valuable and rare it is.

RHD aircooled cars are now coming hard to come by, especially early ones from the 1970's. The rarest being the ones built in Italy.

To go even rarer you need to find an an early aircooled 70's car built in Italy with a factory fitted sunroof. (TA not a deville)

Good luck!

Even rarer are the early air cooled without the factory fitted sunroof. These are worth more because they have more metal in them. Dark blue is the best colour... ;D  ;D ;D

Thank you for your help, so how about importing an early polish made 126 LH drive these seem very common therefore not so valuable or desirable

Probably easier and. Header to grab a decent RHD one of eBay, there's a fair few in right now and they are not all expensive, what's your budget?

Nice, but might not be original, which normally helps hold it's value. LHD as well so unless you are planning to use it abroad, RHD might be better. Your budget is healthy so you could probably get a good one off of eBay even if it needs some work.

What do you think to this? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=161744552197&globalID=EBAY-GB

I think that is too much for an unregistered left hooker.
I love the bit where it says registration is an easy process. So why don`t do it and sell it UK registered?

This one has recently sold for £1700 and it gives you an indication what a decent 126 is worth nowadays.

Early Italian cars or limited editions command higher prices of course.

Hope you find a suitable car.

An early LHD Polish car would be ok if you couldn't find anything else. But the 126p is rising in price in Poland now also. Although cheaper than here, it's hard to get people to part with their 126 in Poland now as there seems to be a 126 revival occurring at the moment. Mike from wheeler dealers went there to get one and he struggled. See what he ended up with here.

I've just bought an 89 126p fresh off the boat for 1200 - clean 1 owner car but they are becoming hard to find as kent126 said. My thinking was if I want to modify it I won't be annoying the purists, else I'll just have a nice original car. I've found out that post April 87 you need rear seat belts which mine doesn't have so getting them next week (mountings are there so no bother).

Just modify it to your own taste. It's your car, so make it personal :-)
