Hi guys. Does any1 know the standard compression ratio of a '87 aircooled? :cool:

this is a great site for specs on models. but it didnt show compression ratio for late fsm aircooleds. see below.

compression ratio is:

"May 1985 UK models get 8.0:1 650E engine"

Thats quite low compression so with just a bit of head work we should easily be running 10psi of boost.
Has any one else on here turbod there 126?

trust me nearly every type of mod has been done from Honda to chevy, to ducatti, to Yamaha, lumps, 1500 turbos, 900 turbos from unos original engines bored to 740cc and injected, turbo. the 126 racing scene is huge over here.
Many thousands of engines have died along the way,But good luck anyway.

If any one wants to just say they have a turbo on their 126 I can post them one.
Have you seen the little turbo that fits under the Carb it is supposed to add power and save petrol.
I have a couple but have never bothered to fit them.

i just want to get that '70's feel from mine,why bother mucking about with a 126 if you want to go quick?.......get a bike(most car drivers hvint a clue how quick they are).............................even my '95 urban tiger is as quick as any ferrari................im tryng to keep the character whilst going a little quicker,thats my goal.
turbo/shmurbo,.........stuff a small block chevy in if you need speed,or just buy a scooby an be done with it,........just leave a small defensless (fast disapearing)aircooled 126 alone.

My thaught exactly. There are tons of really cheap fast cars about why try to turbo charge a 650cc engine if you (aparrently) have:

1990 skyline gtr
1993 renault 5 turbo powered van
1978 mini pick up
1978 vw camper turbod
1966 vw camper soon to be turbo
1986 bmw 325 sport

Sitting in the garage.

Sound like pie in the sky to me.

I understand racing them, It is a cheap way into motorsports.
But they don't allow such tuning in most of the groups anyway.

Thanks mate. Heres your pie in the sky. Would you like me to get some pics of the mini pick up for you aswell seeing as i missed that one out as you might not beleive me about that one. Alternatively you could try here http://www.retrocarclub.co.uk/rcc/index.php where you will find i am the 4th highest posting member on the site and everyone on there will verify the collection of cars i currently own. Or should i say APPARANTLY own. You will also find that one of this sites users HUDSON HENRY is a registered user of the retro car club site. Maybe he could verify this for you.
I can understand that if you hadnt met me before that it would sound a bit of a tall story but please dont judge someone before you get to know them and then go all cockish about it.
And to answer... why try to turbo a 650 if you apparantly own........... Why not? Same reason i turbod my renault van that i apparantly own or the 78 baywindow that i apparantly own.

Why a 126? Very strange car to pick, why not a 500, better known for being tuned.

Very often VW cylinders are used when tuning 126 engines. So your VW experience will be handy.
I will try to find the site. It is in Polish but I can have a go at translating the basics.

Strange that a member of the retro car club would wan't to tune a 126. Why not retro?
