Fiat Bis w/c Relays confusion...?
« on: October 28, 2014, 01:52:11 PM »
I'm trying to sort out my Indicators which don't seem to want to work, but funnily enough the Hazard Warning lights all work fine? So it seems there may be a standalone problem with the switches, relays...?

I'm clueless on what I could be, along with which relays are responsible for indicators?
Anyone have any ideas or guides please let me know, much appreciated. Without this working I can't get my fiat to pass MOT

There is a separate hazard warning light flasher unit so if the hazards are working and the indicators are not then I'd first check the fuse (also separate from the hazards) then check the flasher unit next to the relays.

I've replaced the Fuses and The Relays but still no luck, the flasher unit relay that I had before would very quickly heat up, this one on the other hand is rather cool.

Could it be something to do with the Steering Wheel switches?

The switches on the steering wheel stalks are probably dirty, I had this issue with my lights, if you take the wheel off, clean up the metal, then put them back on and see, its not a difficult job :)

Stalks being the Copper Looking metal pieces - I'll get onto that today and see the results, hopefully it can get sorted quick

I've took the wheel apart and cleaned the metal parts but still no luck, I'm quite surprised and curious to what could be the problem

Is there a click from the relay when you move indicator stalk?  If you get someone to move the indicator stalk while you hold your hand on the relay then you should be able to feel.  If no click then I would suspect indicator stalk or wiring to/from the relay.  A single click with lights not coming on probably means relay is faulty.
