hello everyone i've just joined the club i have a 126 bis fo rthe last 3 years, it has been a constant project, rarely get on the road for long.
it is f reg lemon yellow and has just had an engine refurb. i cant wait to get her back on he road for the summer. i have hit a problem in the last week, namely, the king pin/ steering axle assembly, im sure whoever fitted the king pins last time didn't get the bushes reemed, and subsequently the king pin is jamed, the locking pin had collapsed and the axle is rotating around the fixed king pin rather than the king pin rotating in the bushes.
i have not been able to remove the king pin so the stub axle and axle carrier are still intact, there is definately too much wobble between them to pass the mot.
Is there any point trying to get the assembly seperaited or wil the cast iron stub axle have worn too much to be of any use?
i have new king pin refurb kits but will need to get someone to reem the bushes. will my local fiat garage do this or is it a specialist thing?
Failing this is there anywhere i can get replacement stub axle and carrier units for a fair price? second hand or new?
thanks for your help.
