Starter cable replacement
« on: September 18, 2014, 12:18:45 PM »
Well lol one of the few remaining components that haven't been replaced failed on Monday. The Starter cable has busted.

I have a new cable and set of clips on their way to me, but a look through the haynes gives no clue on how to replace this.

Since I have a one piece carpet in, i'm guessing that first step is to remove seats and seat belt mounts so that I can get the carpet up and get access to the tunnel.

I've seen an earlier post on this forum about there being a cable clip on the metal heater pipe, so is the way to fit this cable by threading it in from the back end?

I saw rusty's post about a cable being too long. What length should the cable be before I start taking the car to bits?

Well starter cable is now replaced along with all clips and it works as it should, however a kinked choke cable was spotted so that will be the next item needing changing.

Cable routing seems really critical so I think the choke cable has been routed wrongly on the car which is causing the kinking.

I cannot find anything listed in the haynes re the cable runs so does anyone have any advice?
