Well... i ran it without the exhaust on and oils leaking from the gasket for sure at the top right and running down, gasket is now also totally toast! i tightened it up too much and the valves were stuck :(. Seems deformed cam cover might have been the issue with rough running holding a valve open or shut perhaps ad I ran briefly without the cam cover and it was fine.

I tried to see if I could run without a gasket but without tightening the cover sits 1-2 mm away from the head :(. Tightened down again but holding rocker again and still could be better.

I think ill be modifying the cam cover tomorrow as a replacement is a little pricy.   Does anyone have a gasket lying around!? Might have to fabricate something tomorrow!

Knocked the rocker back to a better shape and fabricated a new thicker gasket.  Engine running seemingly fine with the exhaust off, put it back on and back to splutter under throttle.

Oil still seeping from the bottom right. I don't have the fabric washers but definitely not leaking from there. Seems to be somewhere along the right side of the head between the cover somewhere. How does everyone else sit with no gasket out of interest?  Flush? Only seem to be able to get it even close to the gasket by tightening the nuts up!

Not sure what to do now!

So... Took the rocker off and removed a couple of washers on the head that may have been fouling. Cam cover sitting way better now and the only leak appears to be a from a pinhole on the cover. Waiting for it to cool and will weld it up probably tomorrow and hopefully get some new ignition leads as the make shift repair isn't a permanent solution!  Why are axel gerstl the only fair priced shop I can find another copper head gasket from? :(
