It all depends how mechanically minded you are. I've taken a few gearboxes apart in my time and the 126/500 for me is pretty simple  :)
Hey!

i think that i am mechanically. I did not get any time to screw down the gearbox, so i dont have any photo but i maybe can do it tomorrow. If i do it i show you the photo tomorrow :)

have a nice saturday!  :)

Hi See another 5 speed box on the horizon,

Ok just to clear up some detail, from memory.

when i got my kit that complete shaft your showning is not included, what it is showing i beleive is how the parts mate together. The main and cluster shaft stay in the box and you work from the back of the gearbox and remove the rear casting that has the selector running through it.
Have you got your kit and is the cluster shaft included? if not great makes life easier.

once you remove the rear casting you need to remove the top selector rod and DO NOT drop the ball bearing inside or then you will need a stripdown including the differental "you have been warned" remove all detent balls and interlocking detent balls first to play safe.

you need to remove the second gear cluster on the rear, this will require you locking the gears together just select 3rd and 4th together and this will do it. the speed drive you remove will need to be slimmed down by about 1.5 mm but you will have to check on the instruction to confirm how much as i dont remember but it is hardened and needs to be done in a machine shop. the rest is easy and just check clearances on things as you assemble. once fitted make sure all turns and selector works with out binding as i found this required modifing, and if i remeber right the middle selector fork needed to be modified but you see this when testing the box just a file will do this. once the box is fitted to the car the coupling link needs to be shorteren by 37mm and the gearbox strut will need to be modified to clear the casting or it will rub on the gearbox. I said a day and that is easily done in a day, a pro can do one in 2 hours so is easy job but follow instruction and hay presto all done. ;)

Hey smallcox!

I dont relly now how the kitt looks but i have look in fiat500sport and did find this kitt: http://www.fiat500sport.com/gearbox-and-transmission/kit-5-speed-with-3-4-5-short-speedfor-126-gearbox-0113.html

I dont now if that is the same kit you did buy?

But all that you wrote did i understand a little. I most read it many times to understand more, but if i ask this simple question. Do you think i can handle it if i buy this kit on the link? Can you guy´s help me if i´m not fix it by my self?

I´m pretty mechanicel, i have strip down a fiat 126 now and gone do the paint jobb. but many people have say here in sweden to, that fix a gearbox is harder to tuning a engine :/ But i think that i still can fix that 5 speed kit in the gearbox. I relly want to have a 5 speed. You did say that the engine has 3500 rpm in 70 mph? That is 110 Km/h here in sweden and we can not drive any faster at the highways.

do you think i can fix it if i order that kit on the link?

Mvh/ Carl

Follow instructions and you will be fine and take your time, do not slip 1st gear ring/reverse off the lower shaft as this is a problem to get back in place in situ, and watch how you remove 2nd gear assembly as this has many parts to it and will require to be rebuilt how it comes apart. get a manual on your gearbox and all is straight forward.

Once you done one you can do another in half the time.
